Welcome to Mrs. Curd's Kindergarten page.  Here you will see information that is going on in our kindergarten class.  Below are things we have learned for the month, dates to remember, classroom reminders, and my contact information.                                                Updated:  2/22/2012

During the month of February, we continued learning about the continent of Africa.  We studied about the children of Africa, as well as studying some folktales and other stories from Africa.

In reading, we worked on sequencing stories.  We also worked on the reading strategies of using the monitor the reading and going back to re-read if it doesn't make sense.  We've also talked about finding parts we know to help us read words.

In writing, we wrote about beginning, middle, and end of the stories.  We worked on putting spaces in between our words, using lower case letters (expect at the beginning of sentences), and used our very best handwriting.

In math, we worked on simple addition and subtraction.  We also learned about measuring, using non-standard measurement.  We continued to work on counting by 1's, starting at any number and skip counting by 10's and 5's.  We learned to recognize and write numbers 1-30.
